The Honest Trade-offs of Acrylic
Cast or extruded, acrylic has real limitations worth knowing before you buy:
- It scratches. All acrylic scratches more easily than glass. Use a microfiber cloth, not paper towels or rough surfaces. This is true regardless of how it's made.
- It doesn't handle high heat. Acrylic softens at around 80°C. Don't place hot cups, soldering irons, or heat sources directly on the panel. Use a coaster.

Why don't more brands use cast acrylic?
