I started building desk accessories because I couldn't find the ones I actually wanted to live with.
Everything I found felt like it was made for everyone, not for someone. I wanted something that felt personal — built to a specific dimension, a specific color, a specific idea of what a workspace should feel like.
So I built it myself.
Good work deserves a workspace designed with the same level of care.
The First Piece
The first HushLume piece was a monitor riser — acrylic, steel, and aluminum. I made it for my own desk. Then someone asked if I could make one for theirs. That's how this started.
Why These Materials
I only make products I genuinely enjoy designing and building. That's why there's no mousepad, no desk, no hundred SKUs. I'd rather release one thoughtful piece a year than ten forgettable ones.
Acrylic gives me something no other material does. Light moves through it. Color feels suspended inside it instead of sitting on the surface. Paired with chrome steel and machined aluminum, they create something that feels more like furniture than an accessory — designed to stay with you for years, not seasons.
One Person
HushLume is still just me.
I design. I source. I build. I pack. I answer every email personally. Every piece is designed, built, and assembled in my studio in Hubei, China.
Sometimes I remake a part three times before I'm satisfied. Every prototype that doesn't work teaches me something the next one benefits from. That's the nature of craft.
Every Project Begins With a Conversation
Every workspace is different. I don't think the objects on it should all be the same.
Some people need a shelf that fits an unusual setup. Others want a color that doesn't exist anywhere else. I enjoy solving those problems one project at a time.
Nothing is cut until your order arrives. Your dimensions, your color, your finish — built from scratch. For products where the final result is harder to visualize (such as poster frames), I'll prepare a simple 3D render for your review before anything is made — production only begins once you've confirmed you're happy with it.
