Clean Lines, Custom Backing: The HushLume Industrial Aluminum Poster Frame

Some frames are decorative. This one is structural.

The HushLume Industrial Aluminum Poster Frame is built from EU-standard 2020 aluminum alloy profile and two 3mm acrylic panels — a clear front panel that protects your artwork, and a customizable back panel that sets the visual tone of the whole display. No glass to break. No plastic that yellows over time. No standard sizes that don't quite fit what you want to display.

Every frame is made to order in Hubei, China. Built from scratch when you order it.

The Material Foundation

The frame uses EU-standard 2020 aluminum alloy profile — the same precision-extruded industrial format used across the HushLume lineup. Rigid, lightweight, and corrosion-resistant, with a clean geometric cross-section that reads as intentional rather than utilitarian.

The two acrylic panels:

  • Front panel: 3mm clear acrylic. Protects the artwork while keeping it fully visible. Lighter than glass and won't shatter if the frame is knocked over.
  • Back panel: 3mm acrylic, customizable in semi-transparent or opaque solid color. A light semi-transparent backing keeps things airy and minimal. A dark opaque backing creates contrast that makes artwork pop.

Artwork Placement: What Works Best

This frame is designed for flat artwork up to 2mm thick. Here's how to get the best result.

Standard art prints and posters (typically 0.1–0.3mm): Fit perfectly. For prints slightly smaller than the frame interior, place a few sheets of paper behind the artwork — slightly smaller than the print itself — to add gentle pressure and keep the artwork centered and flat against the front panel.

Thinner or lighter prints: If the artwork tends to shift or slide, a small piece of removable tape on the back corners will hold it in place without damaging the print. Washi tape or low-tack mounting tape works well.

Artwork thicker than 2mm: Not recommended. The panel gap is calibrated for flat prints — thicker materials won't fit cleanly and may stress the frame.

Photographs: Standard photo prints work well. Glossy prints benefit from the clear acrylic front panel — the acrylic has a similar surface quality that complements the photo finish.

What to Display

  • Art prints and posters: The primary use case. The industrial aluminum frame gives standard art prints a premium, gallery-quality presentation without the gallery price.
  • Photography: Printed photos — landscape, portrait, architectural — sit cleanly behind the clear acrylic front panel.
  • Botanical and nature prints: The clean aluminum frame doesn't compete with detailed botanical illustration.
  • Typography and quote prints: Bold typographic prints look particularly at home in an industrial frame context.
  • Album artwork: For vinyl collectors, pair a poster frame with a vinyl record display stand — the record on the stand, the album artwork in the frame alongside it.
  • Maps and technical drawings: Cartographic and architectural prints suit the industrial aesthetic naturally.

Where to Use It

The Desk Display

A poster frame on your desk surface works as a rotating art display — swap prints whenever you want a change. No tools required, no wall damage. Pair it with the rest of your industrial desk setup for a cohesive look.

The Wall Gallery

Multiple frames in a grid or salon-style arrangement create a unified gallery wall. The consistent EU 2020 aluminum profile ties everything together visually regardless of what's inside each frame. Mix sizes for visual interest while keeping the material language consistent.

The Shelf Lean

Leaned against the back of a 3-tier display shelf, a poster frame adds a vertical element that breaks up the horizontal rhythm of shelf objects. No wall mounting required.

The Bedroom Feature Wall

A large frame above a bed headboard — sized to the width of the bed — creates a focal point that's more considered than a standard framed print. The aluminum frame reads as contemporary without being cold.

The Home Office Wall

In a study or home office, a framed print with personal meaning — a map, a diagram, a piece of art — adds character to a wall that might otherwise be blank. The industrial frame fits naturally in a workspace context.

Care Notes

  • Acrylic panels: Clean with a soft microfiber cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or rough cloths that can scratch the surface.
  • Aluminum frame: Wipe with a damp cloth. The EU 2020 profile is corrosion-resistant and requires no special maintenance.
  • Artwork protection: The clear acrylic front panel protects artwork from dust and light handling. For long-term archival display, use acid-free backing paper behind the print.
